Feedback Battle of Origins

Team 2

Positive:
  • Ironical view on the "serious" topic.
  • Team work.

Negative:
  • Good luck with an AI! )

Team 3

positive:
  • The team tactics aspect of the game sound really interesting - but this requires a good AI and some well elaborated maps where the tactics can take effect.
  • Animations and graphics look already fun based on the first prototype.
negative:
  • It would be nice to have more possibilities to fight the opposing team. Some more types of "weapons" would certainly add to the fun.

Team 4

positive:
  • The game is based on a current debate about science and religion. So the game mechanics tries to represent the simplified conflict between scientist and creationist. This kind of topic and mechanics seems to be new
  • The collaboration element seems to be fun
negative:
  • It could be a problem that it needs a lot of human players
  • When there are NPCs in the game the artificial intelligence has a big impact, as the wonders can only be triggered when the AI is ‘smart’ enough to find each other
  • The game could get one-sided very fast, when a few players are converted, the team with less team members could have no chance to win the game anymore (harder to get wonder, more enemies which shoot at team, ...)

Team 5

positive:
  • The game seems to have a dynamic nature. The mixture of defensive gameplay (collection for the wonder) and offensive gameplay (converting) sounds great. The difference between those two "phases" is what makes the game attractive in my opinion
negative:
  • The AI will be the most crucial part. You rely on many NPC's and if there behaviour is to dumb players will be annoyed or able to trick the AI into doing things.

Team 6

positive:
  • The game looks like it will be a lot of fun if you get enough people together. It's lighthearted, the art style works and there are enough tactical elements that it wouldn't get repetitive too fast. I can totally see myself playing a few quick rounds of this for example at a LAN-party inbetween more serious game sessions.
negative:
  • The game idea is centered on the conflict between evolutionists and creationists and the objective is to "prove" who is right through battle, so the game itself should take a neutral stance on the issue. Yet your upgrade mechanics (body parts get larger as you use them) are firmly rooted in evolutionist beliefs, so you are conceptually already biased toward one side. Obviously the game isn't supposed to take itself (or the difficult subject matter) very seriously, but you are still kind of making a statement with this.
