Ported Chapter2 of 
http://www.ziggyware.com/readarticle.php?article_id=127&rowstart=2 (as well as its CPU related counterpart) but it runs only on HLSL 3.0. No problem for the XBox 360 but none of our computers does the job. But it shows that vertex textures are what we need to get the stuff to run at constant reasonable framerates.
